F u r t h e r . t h e e v i d e n c e t h a t t h e a c g u i s i t i o n of formal o p e r a t i o n a l thought p r o c e s s e s c o n t i n u e s t h r o u g h o u t the a d u l t y e a r s c o n t i n u e s t o mount (Tomlinson-Keasey. 1972; P i a g e t . 1 9 7 2 ) . One can s p e c u l a t e on t h e b a s i s o f t h e above t h a t i n s t r u c t i o n d u r i n g t h e c o l l e g e y e a r s might well s e r v e t o maximize t h i s f i n a l s t a g e o f c o g n i t i v e development.
